Swim Team News

• Friday, December 12 during 7th period, the t-shirt rep will meet with the state championship girls to help them choose a design for their state shirt.
• Monday, December 15th at 2:15pm the Balfour Rep will be at 7th period to take orders for state championship rings state championship rings. Parents will have to buy their swimmers their ring.
• Tuesday, January 13 at 5:30pm the 11 girls will be honored at the Board of Education -Merts Center at 200 White Street with a resolution.
• Finally -First Place Athletics will pay for a picture of the championship team to be framed and mounted in the Grissom gym.

Girls Win! Girls Win!!

What an exciting weekend in Tuscaloosa. The Grissom Tiger's Swim and Dive Team was prepared and performed marvelously.

Our Girls Swim and Dive Team finished first and our Boys Swim Team finished seventh. CONGRATULATIONS, especially to our Seniors - who finished off their high school swim careers in style!!

Nothing But Noodles - State Swim & Dive Meet Party

The GHS Swim and Dive teams will be meeting for dinner on Thursday at 6:15pm
at Nothing But Noodles on Whitesburg Drive to eat dinner together as a team.

All swimmers, divers, and their families are invited. When you arrive, order your food at
the register and then sit together in the room to the right (it's reserved just for us.)

The regular season is over. The next, and final meet, is the State Championships, which will be in Tuscaloosa on December 5 and 6. We have 21 athletes who are eligible for State Meet!

Several of our swimmers were at the Fran Norris Invitational this past weekend and quite a few earned qualifying times for the State Meet. Congratulations to Hannah Busk, Iman Newman, Sara Henderson, Kris Kittredge, Marley Woody, Tehuti Taylor, ThomasLewallen, Tchaasu Taylor, Brad Hollihan, and Steve Griffin. Here are a few demographics about the team this year. We have a total of 39 athletes on the team, which is about 5 more than last year. There are 36 swimmers and 3 divers. We have 8 seniors, 6 juniors, 12 sophomores, and 13 freshmen. There are 26 girls and 13 boys.

Swim and Dive Team PARTY!

It's time to take some time to enjoy one another's company OUTSIDE of the pool!

Where: The Smith's (Ashlyn & Callie) house (address will be on the 'official' invitation) and AMF Parkway Lanes

When: Sunday, September 21, 2:00pm - 5:00pm

What: Build your own Ice Cream Sundae at the Smiths, then on to Parkway Lanes for BOWLING at 3:00pm

• We'll supply the ice cream, you bring your favorite ice cream topping to share!

Cost: $8 - includes 2 hours of bowling and shoe rental. We'll provide the ice cream for the sundaes and don't forget to bring your favorite ice cream topping!

We want to take a group picture at the party, so wear an old GHS Swim and Dive shirt or another GHS shirt to the party, since this year's shirts won't be ready yet.

You'll receive a handout at swim practice this week - if you're planning to attend, return the RSVP portion of the handout to Ashlyn NO LATER THAN Thursday, September 18 or send an e-mail to grissomtigerswimanddive@gmail.com by Thursday. At least two adults will chaperone and other parents are welcome to attend!

STAR Sportsmanship Course

All high school athletes are required to take the Student course. Once you complete the course, print the certificate and turn into Coach Thompson.

Parents - there is also a Parents test. Take it!
